Our relationship with Peter at Sourwood Creations ticks all of the boxes, he makes all of the absolutely stunning wooden spoons himself, by hand, about 7 miles up the road and with locally sourced wood, what more could we ask for?
Each piece is completely individual, some are au naturel, some are baked for a darker look, some are flatter at the tip and some are more rounded, some are a beautiful cross section of heartwood and sapwood and others are finished with milk paint, but they're all glorious examples of the ancient art of spoon carving.
All pieces are finished with a food safe Tung oil and whilst they are items of beauty, they're also practical items, so don't be afraid to get them spreading! The oil will offer them some protection from staining but slight discolouration can be expected with use, and should be cherished! Give them an extra lick of oil every now and then to keep them from drying out too much.
