These Secateurs are very nice indeed, like the “Stainless Secateurs” in the Suwada range, they have very chunky handles, increasing the ease with which once can transfer power from the hand to the blade.
They are seriously comfortable to hold and really are a great looking tool, great for all round use in the garden.
Japanese tools are unquestionably some of the best in the world, they’re so robust, so visually appealing and so capable of carrying out the job they were designed for it’s almost unfair on the rest of us! These shears are genuinely great, the feel excellent in the hand and they will carry out the job they were designed for for years to come, as long as they are looked after!
Carbon steel is a superb material for edged tools but it needs care, it cannot be left wet or it will rust (and we really don’t want that!), so just make sure you thoroughly dry your tools after use to avoid any upsetting issues. It is also perfectly normal for carbon steel garden tools to develop patina with use, this is part of their charm and is your pair developing their own personality!
To keep them in as good a condition as possible we recommend regular removal of sap and dirt with something like our “Crean Mate” and sharpening with the “Suwada sharpening bar” or send them in to us and we’ll sharpen them for you!
