Yu Kurosaki is one of the most recognisable contemporary blacksmiths working in Japan today. Based in Takefu Knife Village in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture, Kurosaki has earned an international reputation for producing beautifully finished knives that combine striking visual design with excellent cutting performance.

After training for many years under master blacksmith Hiroshi Kato, Kurosaki established his own workshop and quickly became known for his distinctive hammer finishes and refined blade grinds. Many of his knives feature unique tsuchime patterns and carefully shaped profiles, giving each line a strong visual identity while maintaining the thin geometry and sharp edges that Japanese kitchen knives are known for.

Kurosaki works with a range of steels including SG2/R2 powder steel and various carbon steels, pairing them with stainless cladding and highly polished finishes. The result is knives that offer impressive edge retention, clean cutting performance and a level of finish that reflects the skill of the craftspeople involved.

In this collection you’ll find a selection of Yu Kurosaki knives that showcase his approach to modern Japanese knife making — elegant, precise and instantly recognisable both on the board and in the hand.
