V1 Tsuchime Santoku Knife
Introduction
The V1 Tsuchime Santoku is a versatile Japanese kitchen knife designed for everyday food preparation. Its broad blade and relatively flat cutting edge make it particularly well suited to chopping vegetables, slicing meat and preparing fish, while the hammered Tsuchime finish gives the blade a distinctive textured appearance.
Knife Shape & Finish
The Santoku is one of Japan's most versatile kitchen knives, designed for slicing, dicing and chopping vegetables, meat and fish. Its relatively flat cutting edge and broad blade make it particularly well suited to everyday food preparation.
Tsuchime translates as 'hammered finish', referring to the textured indentations across the blade. As well as giving the knife a distinctive appearance, these small indentations can help reduce friction and encourage food release during cutting.
V1 Steel
V1 is a Japanese stainless cutlery steel used in kitchen knives. It offers a practical balance of corrosion resistance, edge retention and ease of maintenance, making it well suited to everyday cooking.
Knife Care
Although this knife is made from stainless steel and is resistant to corrosion, it should still be washed by hand and dried thoroughly after use. Never put it in the dishwasher or leave it soaking in water, as this can damage the blade and handle.
Japanese knives are designed for precision cutting and should not be used on bones, frozen foods or other hard materials. Avoid twisting or levering the blade during use, and never use it to open tins, pry apart ingredients or perform tasks other than food preparation.
With proper care, your knife will provide many years of reliable service.
