We love these kits, and this might be our favourite for anyone who really loves to cook. My Spatula Kit gives you everything you need – bar the knife – to carve and finish your own walnut cooking spatula.
You start with a roughly shaped walnut blank and work it down by hand, changing the handle, thinning the edges and refining the overall shape until it feels right for you. Keep it broad and sturdy, make it finer for getting underneath food, round off the handle – the whole point is to make a tool that suits the way you cook.
At around 30cm long, it’s a satisfyingly substantial thing to make and relatively straightforward to carve. Once you’re happy with the shape, three grades of sandpaper are included to smooth everything down, followed by beeswax for the final finish and to bring out the lovely colour and grain of the walnut.
A genuinely useful project, a great gift for anyone who loves cooking and a chance to make a kitchen tool that should only get better the more you use it.

Walnut
Walnut is a beautiful hardwood with a naturally rich colour and distinctive grain. Each blank will be slightly different, so variations in colour, grain and appearance are all part of the finished piece.
Tools Required
You’ll need a small carving knife, penknife or suitable craft knife. Tools are not included with the kit.

Age & Safety
This kit requires the use of a sharp knife or cutting tool.
Recommended for adults aged 18 and over. Anyone under 18 should only use the kit with appropriate adult supervision.
We ship Tuesday to Saturday using Royal Mail Tracked 24.
All knives ship via an age verified service in accordance with The Offensive Weapons Act 2019, which will mean the postie will need you to be in to receive the delivery & to check your ID if you look under 25.
The law also requires us to carry out a soft age check of the purchaser after checkout, this is done by an automated system that usually doesn't require your input, although we will need to contact you for proof of age if you fail, which can sometimes happen if you use a work address.
