Another superb axe from Mizuno here, we love this one as a bushcraft axe, great for processing kindling and smaller logs, talking off limbs or hammering in steaks with the flat back. Also great for the home as a general kindling axe.

Made by hand in Sanjo, Japan by Master Blacksmith Isao Mizuno and his sons the Mizuno range of axes perfectly embody the values of beauty, function and longevity

Each axe head is hand forged using a technique called Warikomi, a 3 layered construction which sees a softer piece of steel heated and split (like a taco), to accommodate a piece of high carbon steel which is inserted in between the layers. This is then forged Into a solid, single piece of material which will then be shaped into the axe head, an axe head with a high carbon cutting edge for sharpness and a softer steel  cladding to absorb the force of the blows when it use.

The head of each axe is adorned with 7 gouges, 4 on one side and 3 on the other, each one representing a Mountain God,  the 8th is absent to ensure bad luck does not befall the user.

The beautifully shaped handles are made from scorched Japanese white oak.  This process not only looks great but also serves to seal the wood and protect the handle  from the influences of the weather.

We ship Tuesday to Saturday using Royal Mail Tracked 24.

All knives ship via an age verified service in accordance with The Offensive Weapons Act 2019, which will mean the postie will need you to be in to receive the delivery & to check your ID if you look under 25.

The law also requires us to carry out a soft age check of the purchaser after checkout, this is done by an automated system that usually doesn't require your input, although we will need to contact you for proof of age if you fail, which can sometimes happen if you use a work address.
